Her rural recordings with lifelong friends Parranda El Clavo brought new attention to an alluring and irresistible Venezuelan Afro-Soul genre called Tambor. The group combines Betsayda’s clarion lead vocals, miraculous harmony singing by the entire ensemble, and deep, imminently danceable polyrhythms. A stand-out participant at GlobalFest 2017 and the first ever Venezuelan artists to have appeared on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, they have now performed in more than fifty cities around the world.
